Searing Balm
Burning balm breaks over the thickest pack. It aims itself at the densest pack of monsters in range (no aiming by hand).
It is on the hero’s skill tree from the start: one level-up point learns it.
Rank by rank
Each level up to 30 brings one point for the skill tree, then every second level does: a point learns a skill you do not have while one of your 6 slots is free, or adds the next rank of one you have, up to rank 5. These are the lines the tree shows for each rank:
- Rank 1: 22 damage in 1.1 tiles of the thickest pack, 1 burn stack (1 a tick); x1.5 damage with no other hero within 8 tiles · 2.4 s cooldown (1.43 s with Quick Hands at rank 5)
- Rank 2: 27 damage in 1.2 tiles of the thickest pack, 1 burn stack (1 a tick); x1.5 damage with no other hero within 8 tiles · 2.3 s cooldown (1.38 s with Quick Hands at rank 5)
- Rank 3: 33 damage in 1.3 tiles of the thickest pack, 1 burn stack (2 a tick); x1.5 damage with no other hero within 8 tiles · 2.2 s cooldown (1.32 s with Quick Hands at rank 5)
- Rank 4: 40 damage in 1.4 tiles of the thickest pack, 1 burn stack (2 a tick); x1.5 damage with no other hero within 8 tiles · 2.0 s cooldown (1.2 s with Quick Hands at rank 5)
- Rank 5: 48 damage in 1.5 tiles of the thickest pack, 1 burn stack (3 a tick); x1.5 damage with no other hero within 8 tiles · 1.8 s cooldown (1.08 s with Quick Hands at rank 5)

Evolution: Blistering Balm
Rank 5 + Whetstone → Blistering Balm. Hold Searing Balm at rank 5 and any rank of Whetstone, and its gold evolution node on the skill tree can take your next point. A wider splash of hotter balm: every foe in it burns one stack deeper.

Whetstone is also the key to Gall Thorn, so one passive can open two evolutions.
