Inscription · 3 runes · for any hero
The Long Road
Each floor you go down without going home adds 2% damage, up to 20%, until you go home.
All 3 runes can drop from floor 22 down.
The runes, in order
Sedge → Brine → Umber, in sockets 1 to 3 of one item with exactly 3 sockets: a normal or magic weapon, off-hand and chest. The deepest of them, Umber, first drops on floor 22.
The power
Each floor you go down without going home adds 2% damage, up to 20%, until you go home. The bonus reaches its cap of 20% after 10 floors down without going home; a town portal starts it again from nothing. It works for any hero.
- Cut into a weapon, the runes add
- +4% move speed, -2% cooldowns, +18% damage
- Cut into other gear
- -3% cooldowns, +13% skill area
- Smith’s price to empty every socket
- 165 gold
An inscription is cut when an item has exactly as many sockets as the inscription has runes, every socket filled, in the inscription’s order. A 3-socket chest with Brine and Quill in its first two sockets spells nothing: the count must match too. The inscription’s power works only for the hero it is cut for; on anyone else the item keeps its rune stats and the power sleeps. Emptying one socket breaks the inscription at once, and the rune in it is destroyed, so set the runes in order and only into the item you mean to keep.
