How it fights

The wardbark protects the others. It keeps between 4.5 and 6.5 tiles from you, behind its pack, and while it stands every other monster within 3 tiles of it takes only 50% of each hit’s damage (at least 1). The game draws its reach as a faint violet ring on the ground round its lantern, and a small violet ellipse at the feet of every monster inside it. A boss is never warded, and the wardbark does not ward itself. It barely fights (a 3-point base bite) and has the least HP of its band (145 on floor 16), so the answer is to cut through to it first: with it alive, a pack of ten husks around it needs twice the swings. It pays the most of its band to kill, an item 14% of the time before the floor’s loot multiplier. At most 3 are alive at once, and an open area’s pack holds at most one.

Floor by floor

The same wardbark gets tougher each floor: the floor multiplies its HP, bite and speed. An elite wardbark has 3× the HP, gives 5× the XP and always drops at least a magic item plus 5 coins. “Share of waves” is the part of the floor’s wave monsters that roll as a wardbark.
