How it fights

The cleavecap splits when it dies. Two small violet rings appear 0.4 tiles either side of where it fell, joined by the crack in its cap, and 0.5 s later a half-size cleavecap rises on each, with 50% of a whole one’s HP (88 on floor 16) and 70% of its size. The halves bite like a whole one but do not split again, give half the XP, and drop no coin or item (the whole one already rolled its drop). So one cleavecap is three kills: 175 + 2 × 88 HP of work on floor 16. Area skills that are still hitting the spot when the halves rise finish them fastest; the trap is killing two side by side and meeting four. At most 6 whole ones are alive at once (halves do not count).

Floor by floor

The same cleavecap gets tougher each floor: the floor multiplies its HP, bite and speed. An elite cleavecap has 3× the HP, gives 5× the XP and always drops at least a magic item plus 5 coins. “Share of waves” is the part of the floor’s wave monsters that roll as a cleavecap.
